50+ WPM on a Bennett Challenge

Hey guys!
As you probably know, I have just recently purchased a wonderful Bennett from Canada.
It will be here next week sometime.

Now, for the challenge...

Can I type 50 or more WPM on a Bennett? Is it possible? Are the ads true? I can type around 60-70 wpm normally...
I will try my best once I get it cleaned up. Heck, I might even video myself...

If you have a Bennett or a Junior, feel free to try this yourself!

Ill let you guys know how it turns out! Everyone says the keyboard is tiny, but if the typewriter is 11 inches across, I don't see how it can be much smaller than my laptops keyboard...

Re: 50+ WPM on a Bennett Challenge

I'm gonna go with nope. ignoring the size of the keyboard and how cramped the keys are, and the mechanism that likely can't keep up, the keyboard's nonstandard layout will throw you off enough to get you to not hit your goal

Re: 50+ WPM on a Bennett Challenge

This would be like asking me to do 50 WPM on a folding Corona 3.  lol  For me, no.  Same reason as above.  Non-standard keyboard layout.

Smith Premier typewriters are cool!

Re: 50+ WPM on a Bennett Challenge

I have received it, and have done some primary cleaning. Boy, its a beauty! (And of course small!)
I was typing around 30 WPM, and the type ball was a little slow to return home, so I think its possible! Oh, and the keys aren't as small as everyone says they are.

Annnnndddd......

No its definitely not possible. Its not me who is slow, its the mechanism! (And I dont want to crack the type wheel by typing hard). How the heck did the ad say it can do 80 WPM?

Im posting a video later. Ive gotta make some new feet and base washers first...

Talk about stretching the truth a bit...

A high schooler with a lot of typewriters. That's pretty much about it.
