I am typing on a 1938 Corona Sterling with a rock hard platen. Until I get a second machine to use and get the platen on the Corona re-rubbered, I'm finding that the period, comma, and hyphen all cut holes through the page. I always put a second sheet behind the page but I tried three sheets yesterday and it looked good.
Here's my question: is there any downside to rolling three sheets through the machine? I don't want to put stress on anything while I'm in such an infancy of understanding my machine.
If you're wondering, I type about eight to ten pages a day on the Sterling and will likely keep going at that pace for some time. It's such a joy to type on.

No, not at all! Those can hold many more sheets! As many as you can roll, it can take.
Theres nothing you would b stressing, except possibly a spring (Which is fine)
Theres is a platen recovery service called JJ shorts that will recover your platen for $60, or theres this guy I know who might be able to do it for around $50, and might even be able to get you a repro manual.

Thanks, TypewriterGuy for the reply. I'll keep rolling in three sheets and see how it goes. I need to get the platen recovered but that's going to require figuring out how to remove the platen without destroying things. I may try or I might take it to a guy in Rome, NY who works on such things.
Thanks again for the help.
