Nickel Replating

Hello again everyone!

I have just ordered a nickel plating kit. It was not one of the more expensive ones ($1000+), so Im not expecting professional results. But I have a few things that really need to be replated, if you remember my older thread, I have an Oliver 9 that has a number scale in desperate need of it, as well as some plated key top rings on my Underwood.

It should be here on Saturday or Monday. I will show a picture of before, and after.

Ill let you guys know how it comes out, and ill keep you updated!

I can't wait

Re: Nickel Replating

I for one will be interested in the results.  I too have parts in need, so will be good to hear how it turned out for you.

Sincerely,
beak.

Re: Nickel Replating

I just took off a scale guide piece off my Oliver. I think I might test that first. Its all rust and peeling plate.

Re: Nickel Replating

I got it, and I have stripped the guide.. Now I am making a batch of copper acetate, so I can go over it with copper first...

I tested the kit on a small piece of copper.

IT WORKS!

Re: Nickel Replating

No, it didn't come out really shiny, because it was my first time and I messed up something, but it came out a heck of a lot better than it was.

Re: Nickel Replating

Well yours didn't look too bad before when compared to mine... But it sure does look a a lot more clean than before. Keep up the good work!

Re: Nickel Replating

Im looking into getting a more professional kit, so if I get it and it works (It should) I will be offering plating services.
