I'm creating a Finnish website (in Finnish) about typewriters and I need to build a dictionary for it. I'd appreciate any typewriter related words (and explanations what they actually mean).
The words I have already listed:
typewriter
ribbon
spool
spool cover
type slug
carriage
platen
drum
drawband
carriage-release
ribbon reverser
mainspring
margin-release
tab-stop
tab-release
tab-key
bell
segment/basket
Here's things I can't name yet or I'm unsure if the term is correct:
- pointer that shows the spot next type will hit
- lever that's used to return the carriage to the right and to change line
- lever that detaches a metal plate hugging the platen on the underside
- lever that determines line height
- holders that hold paper straight while it enters the machine
I want to build as good dictionary as possible so any typewriter related terms are warmly welcome. Any help or comments are greatly appreciated.

- pointer that shows the spot next type will hit
Cursor.
- lever that's used to return the carriage to the right and to change line
Return-lever or carriage-lever.
- lever that detaches a metal plate hugging the platen on the underside
Paper-release lever.
- lever that determines line height
Line-space lever.
- holders that hold paper straight while it enters the machine
A little unsure of what you mean by that. There's only two things that do that, anyway - the paper-bales, or the feed-rollers.

Thank you!

There's also the spool-cups, the ribbon-guides, the ribbon-vibrator, the type-guide, the typebar...
Oy. You could be doing this for months!!

Here are the correct technical terms for those parts:

Also
Paper bale; the hinged bar that holds the paper down to the platen.
Card holder; (AKA post-card holder or index card holder) - the clear plastic pieces either side of the cursor intended to let you type on the top of the page or on a post-card.
Ruling slots; Holes in the above that allow you to draw straight lines on the paper by inserting a pencil and rolling the platen or moving the carriage.
Ribbon reverse button.
Ribbon colour selector.
Carriage lock.
Then there are all the various names for the different typefaces and sizes, 'Pica' and so on.

Paper-bales are the little rollers on top of the platen (sometimes made of metal, sometimes made of rubber, depending on the model of typewriter). The thing they're attached to is the Bale Rail.
I've never heard of ruling slots. What do they look like?

Alternative spelling - Bail Rolls (metal or rubber rollers)
Bail Bar - metal bar on which Bail Rolls are mounted (on some cheap portables there are no rollers)

Remember that typewriter terms vary slightly from country to country, as car terms do. For instance, what the Americans call a 'type slug', the English call a 'typeface'. (the plural of typeface is typeface, confusing, isn't it !)
