Oiliver 9, Oliver 9....

I caught this one on e-Bay and if it was a little closer to me, I might consider it.

The platen looks like a goner, but otherwise good for almost a century old. It would cost a fortune to ship, I imagine.
Still, pretty neat!

Re: Oiliver 9, Oliver 9....

Hi Gabby,

I got myself an Oliver 5 from e-bay some years ago. It looked a bit dull and boring, but about the same general condition as the one you have listed. Fortunately it seems Olivers are built like tanks and their finish is very tough, so with a bit of careful cleaning they work very well and polish up very nicely.
The only problem I had with my Oliver was getting an ink ribbon of the correct size, however I think as the 9 is later than mine it will use a standard half inch ribbon.
I really like my Oliver, I think its an amazing bit of engineering and just fascinating watching it work.
Go for the one on e-bay - you know you want to !!

Cheers,
Alan.

Heh, I just completely dissembled mine... Bassoon is right, they clean up WONDERFUL! I always thought mine was a dull dark green, until I took it apart and really was able to clean up the frame. Turns out, it was a light green!

Back from a long break.

Starting fresh with my favorite typer. A Royal Futura!
