Re: 3D Printing and Typewriters

If you can pull it off, I'll be very impressed...

A high schooler with a lot of typewriters. That's pretty much about it.

Re: 3D Printing and Typewriters

Oh I can. It WILL work! It must! I hope!
It will not be entirely 3d printed. As you will need a paperclip or two and some ink rollers... But besides that, fully 3d printable. I might be able to print it over the upcoming week. Its extremely simple, but it should type. And no, it won't be as neat as it can be, but its going to be the first one.

I recall reading about a group of students a year or two ago who were working on 3D printing a typewriter, and the subject of reproducing typewriter components has already been widely discussed and is nothing new, so what makes you think your attempt is the "first ever"?

The pronoun has always been capitalized in the English language for more than 700 years.

Re: 3D Printing and Typewriters

I did not (But I may be wrong) find any thing about 3D printing a typewrite that can type all letters, with actual ink, on paper, that has a carriage that moves one space, but again, I might be wrong. Its still one of the first attempts. Now there are a few models that have a type bar mechanism, but non that you can print on.

Re: 3D Printing and Typewriters

I use sketchup, because it was the first software I ever started with. And I hate it. I dont know why. But I can't switch because I am so used to it!
