It is a great story; unfortunately it was poorly written, which I suppose shouldn't be a surprise given today's digital/internet standards. I was mostly curious about the apprenticeship training that the new owner received given he was described as being an apprentice in the story's headline, but there wasn't any mention of it in the actual article.
There are two opportunities that I'm aware of in my area that are very similar to the one described in the article. I've talked to both owners at length; one is still very active and has lots of work, but the other, who doesn't seem to be in good health, has slowed to the point that his tools are more symbolic than practical. Surprisingly, neither seems interested in having someone continue on in their footsteps once the calling they served for so long had lost its interest or they were physically incapable of continuing on their own.
