The mechanism that raises the ribbon refuses to come down.  When it raises to make the typeface imprint on the page there it stays.  I have tried blowing things out with canned air, putting a little Remington oil on it, and even taking a small screwdriver and working it to give it more room. A simple push with my fingers and it goes back down, but you type another letter and there it stays. My two other wide carriage sm9 deluxes work just fine.
