Where to look for the serial number on this Continental?

Hi everyone,

excuse my probably dumb question, but I’m fairly new to typewriters... Hoping to learn

So, I own a fairly well preserved Continental 100 typewriter and I wanted to find out when it was manufactured. I already learned that this is usually done by finding the serial number and then looking over the typewriter database. However, I am unable to find the serial number on the first glance and was a little scared of randomly removing items while looking for it. Do you have a tip where I should look? So far, I didn’t find one engraved in the frame nor on the carriage.

I’m sure this is easy to answer, but please bear with a typewriter newbie...

Greetings

Hello

Serial number is on the bottom of the machine. 100 is separable from its pad, so do it and you will find it!

Great! Thank you, I've now found it. Appearently I own a machine manufactured in 1938, i.e. from the first year the Continental 100 was made (it's in the range 274000-307000 as per http://typewriterdatabase.com/continental.75.typewriter-serial-number-database; Continental 100 appearently runs in the same serial number space as Klein-Continental).

Cool. Thanks!
