Every so often, I hear it asked: "Did they make a pica type/elite type (insert one) version for this such-and-such typewriter in this particular such-and-such year?
First off, I am tempted to say that in all the typewriters I've serviced, pica and elite type, as well as other specialty sizes, were available on all. But, as was excruciatingly painfully pointed out to me on my early days on this Forum, I have NOT seen every typewriter ever made, and I have been tinkering with typewriters since 1981. Obviously, not all brands have made it down Texas way.
So I am left with both a theory and a question. The theory is that yes, there might have been some makes, and I am thinking these were in the typewriter's infancy, that were limited to only one size--pica, elite, or some other size. Now the question: Is this theory a fact, and, if so, which typewriters had this limitation of type size, and in what times and models did they have it? I'm sure someone out there is a bit more studied in this than this ol' cowpuncher.
