Underwood 3 Bank line spacing problems...
I just put the platen back in my three bank, but there's a little lever behind the return lever that flops around and there's nothing that clicks when you use the return lever, meaning you can't use the platen knob to like go down a line. Is there supposed to be one? Am I missing something? When I put it back together I may have put it on wrong.

The variable line release lever (platen release lever) should not be flopping around. If the ratchet is not clicking when you turn the knob, the ratchet detent is not engaging with the ratchet teeth. If the release lever is not working to both engage and disengage the line spacing ratchet, something is probably out of place in the line spacing mechanism.

I was just looking at mine, and the detent roller/release mechanism is really simple. Is there a chance yours is missing? Can you post a photo of the back rear of the line space side of the typewriter?
