Hmmm... I can't seem to see any holes that a spring might attach to. But my machine looks a little bit different. The springs wrap around the spool shaft. I'll include a picture below so you can see what I'm talking about. I'm not sure if these springs serve any point, or maybe my machine is missing a piece?

That does look different. My apologies. You model differs from the mechanism I was picturing.

No worries! I appreciate all the tips and advice I can get. The more I learn, the better. This particular model is definitely giving me some troubles though.
