    Smith-Corona Secretarial 76 margin setting problem

    Hello all,
    I just bought a S-C Secretarial 76 and I am having trouble getting the margins to set. I've narrowed it down to the bars that push down on the margins to disengage them. For some reason when the buttons are released they do not release the margins enough so that they stay in one place.

    Any help would be appreciated.

    Jiggle them around, they should slot into place.  Do you have a photo?  Perhaps they are missing the flat springs.

    I'll have to check mine -- I don't recall having a problem with the margins on it.
