Hi All - I'm restoring a post-war (1948) Noiseless 7, and it is missing the shift lock mechanism. The Shift and Shift Lock key are in place, but the small 'latch' that should be attached to the shift key and "hooked" by the shift lock is missing. I believe I could fabricate one if I had a good enough picture or diagram to work from, but haven't been able to find much but a pretty vague line drawing.
Is this a common part to go missing, and can it be sourced? Or, is there any way a fellow owner could get close-up pictures of the part in question? I'd love to get this back to 100% (it's already typing quite well; carriage is a bit slow but functional)
Thanks, and go easy on me, it's my first post!

I have an earlier Noiseless Portable in scrap condition. If you are able to post a photo of the area your shift lock latch is missing from, I can check if the part is the same.

Here's a close-up of the left side of the machine. The shift-lock key is the key with the hook-shape on it, and the shift key is the one with the empty screw-hole in it. I think the missing piece is vaguely L-shaped and is pushed down by the hook, engaging with the shift-lock plate on the front side of the machine?

Sorry for the delay in replying - I haven't been too well just lately. Yes, I am pretty sure that the shift lock is the same on pre-war machines, and I have a complete one on my 'scrapper'. If you want to PM me, we can sort out how to get it to you.

Sounds good, I'll send a PM.
