Underwood Portable 1932 carriage return problem.
Do you need to take off the base?
I have some existing yet short lines attached to each side.
I expect it to be more simple than I think.
Anyone had this on he same model?

Not enough information. Take off the base for what reason? What is the problem? What are you trying to do? What are "existing yet short lines attached to each side"?
