Royal Aristocrat White Substance on the Keys

I am a newbie typewriter enthusiast. I purchased a Royal Aristocrat in very good condition for $19.95 locally. There is a typewriter repair near me, and I will take it next week for general servicing.

I would, however, like to get it as clean as possible prior to taking it in.

What is the process you use to clean your typewriter and keys? What products do you use or recommend? Are stiff toothbrushes useful for cleaning. Do you ever use wax on your keys to shine them, and if so what brands?

Any information/hacks you could give me would be greatly appreciated!

Happy typing.

Dave, try giving this topic a read. It should answer all of you questions.

The pronoun has always been capitalized in the English language for more than 700 years.
