1935 Royal Model 10 KH
Here's my Cleaned up 1935 Royal KH. This is the after for this before thread . Beautiful machine! Again I payed $25. Works 100% fine. I'm pretty sure this model was made in mid 34' to mid 35' based on the typewriterdatabase.com. I seen these go for fully restored $1000 to $2000. Unrestored I saw $500. I have been doing my reasearch on this. Anyone know anything about this model? I noticed that it is never talked about too much either.

That counter in front of the serial number: what is it geared to; what action causes it to advance?

Where did you see these prices? And were they asking prices, or what the machines actually sold for? Somone would have to be insane to spend $500 on a KH, never mind $2000!
The pronoun I has always been capitalized in the English language for more than 700 years.

It's geared to every time you return the carriage back to the side to type again.

I just got one very similar to that, except mine is a Royal KHY. Looks very much the same as yours except that it doesn't have the glass windows in the sides and mine is matte finish instead of shiny. I got mine for $44 at an antique store. Works 100 percent fine!
I've seen those online for $1,400, but I can't imagine anyone actually paying that. I'm not sure where the seller is getting his/her information.

The typewriter might have been a rental. Ray Bradbury wrote about renting machines like that, then paying by the line.

Huh interesting. I'll look that up. I also never see or hear anything about KH's. Mostly KHM's.

Very nice machine! It reminds me a bit of the Royal 10 of the 1920s.
I agree with Uwe, the asking prices you saw are too high for a typewriter mass-produced by a very well-known manufacturer like Royal. That would be the kind of price you'd ask for something quite older and rarer, like, say, a Ford typewriter from the late 1890s. Again, everything boils down to supply and demand, and there were plenty of typewriters made from the 1910s onwards, so there are still a lot of old machines around.
The other machine in the photos is indeed a 1947 - 1948 Royal Quiet De Luxe. I have one like that, and I can tell you, that's one beautiful machine to work with!

Well from the typewriterdatabase.com, the KH was only made for one year. How many do you know exactly were made?
