Olivetti Lettera 22 - In Coming...

This Olivetti Lettera 22 will be in our home early next week.

By its serial number, it was made in 1950 and made in Italy.

Lovely mint green.  And round key-tops.

Case may need some refurb work, but zippers are supposedly in good working order with no loose stitching.

More photos after it gets a typerwriter spa-day on my work bench.

Re: Olivetti Lettera 22 - In Coming...

Olivetti cleaned and serviced and new ribbon added along with metal Olivetti spools I had in my parts stash.

Based on its serial number, it was made in Italy in 1950.

It types quite well, but I think I like typing on my Olivetti 32 from 1967 a bit more.  This 22 slows me down a bit even after a deep cleaning and light oiling.

This 22 weighs in at 8.6 lbs. without its case while the 32 weighs in at 9.4 lbs.  I think the extra weight makes the 32 more robust feeling when used.

The case scrubbed up very well and I used some brown shoe dye on the parts of the handle-leather that had started to flak off a bit.  Case interior now smells clean and pleasant (thanks to Scrubbing Bubbles and Lysol disinfecting spray and drying out in the sun).
