Name that Spool!

*I submitted this to ThePortableTypewriterForum (Yahoo), so I apologize for the double post.*

I've acquired a number of vintage ribbons and mostly metal spools, but am having
some trouble identifying them (which machine & models they are for).

Would anyone like to take a stab at it? Bonus points for matching them with
their corresponding box. :-)

Also, if anyone is interested in any of the spools, please contact me (as I may
list some of them on eBay or Etsy at a later date). I want those who belong to typewriter boards
to have first pick.

Here are the photos for your perusal:

The album is called 'Spools.'

*Lastly, if there are any gems or rarities, I'd appreciate that info too.

Thanks!

PTF is a completely different forum, so I wouldn't consider it a double post at all. In fact, I'm thinking of moving some of the things I posted there here too.

Wow, that's quite the score! Where did you pick up all those goodies?

It's ironic that you created this post, because I just discovered last night that only one of the spools on the Royal FP I just bought is original and I was about to post a WTB here to try and find another. I spend some time making a temporary part using a coat hanger so that the generic plastic spool that was in the machine would work properly.

Anyway, #8 is from a Royal standard. It would probably fit many Royal models, but it looks identical to the one in my FP, so I would definitely be interested in obtaining it from you. On the flip side there should be a pieces of metal bent out and down from the spool. #9 next to it is just a generic spool, the kind you usually get when you buy replacement ribbons.

With regard to all the others, the ones that will matter most are those with any unusual features or have non-standard looking hole patterns. Many of them look like generic spools from various eras to me, which fortunately work in most machines.

Re: Name that Spool!

@Uwe
I scored this lot on eBay last August.

Send me a PM about the spool you're interested in.

On a side note- do you have any pics of your FP to share?

PM sent.

My FP is in the recent acqusition thread where you posted your Princess. Here's a direct link to it.

Re: Name that Spool!

Hey Amelia,
I was wondering if you had any luck finding out the spool types after? I am missing a spool for my brother echelon 79 portable.
Thanks!

Bryan
