Re: Your Ebay watch list

Same here...two is enough...one Silent Super and one Tower Presidential.

I have exercised some self-control by not having the auction on my watch-list and not on a book-mark, either.

Re: Your Ebay watch list

My self-control for these sales is under control (for the most part) because shipping costs from the US of A to up here is, quite frankly, outrageous, but my self-control for local sales, is, well, lacking...

Re: Your Ebay watch list

I am always surprised how reasonable the S&H costs are from sellers in Canada to me here in Idaho - USA.

Some are even less expensive that what a USA seller wants to charge for shipping only 4-5 States away to my home.

Re: Your Ebay watch list

I purchased a typewriter from a seller on Ebay in the USA sometime last year who did not use the Global Shipping Program. The cost was very low and he was able to tell me the exact date that the machine was to arrive, and it did. I was gobsmacked. On the other hand, the one and only time I had shipping damage to a typewriter I had purchased, both the seller and I contacted eBay, I had a full refund within two days and I kept the machine. So I am not sure what the answer is...

Re: Your Ebay watch list

Looks like a couple of collections have gone live:

1) Ebay has a personal collection of 9 typewriters, 8 of which seem in decent condition, including a Torpedo 18b, two SM3s, a Rocket, and a few royals and SCMs. I've any of these so will just be watching.

Vintage Typewriter Collection of 9 - Incl. German Torpedo, Hermes, Olympia SM-3 | eBay

2) Liveauctioneers has about 30 lots (most of them multiples) of early European and American typewriters. (Sholes & Glidden, Caligraphs, Remingtons, Dactyle, Musicwriter, American, Empire, American,...) I'm not sure they're from a single European collector, or a museum, or that the auction house that has simply collected many. They're located in Köln, Germany, so shipping costs to Seattle will likely keep me on the sidelines (nevermind a lack of space). Not that I needed a set of 3 Blick's, 1 Rem-Blick, and 1 Postal all in one go... (5 American and English Typewriters (#0281) on Sep 17, 2022 | Auction Team Breker in NRW (liveauctioneers.com))

Re: Your Ebay watch list

The 'Auction Team Breker' has been going in Germany for at least two decades.  They gather antique typewriters from all over Europe, including England, and have auctions of them every so often.  They are well-known amongst serious European collectors.

Re: Your Ebay watch list

And if anyone is looking for a Facit T2 standard with a normal-width carriage...there is one offered out of NY State on Face Book Marketplace.  Asking price only $ 100.  Looks to be in nice shape and seller says it works.
