Newbie help - typebar doesn't reach ribbon
Hi guys
I just bought an Olympia SM7, hoping to get into the world of typewriters, and out of the box I seem to have a problem. I imagine this is somewhat silly with an easy answer, but I can't seem to figure it out myself.
When I push a key the typebar only reaches halfway up to the ribbon. I can't manually lift the typebar past this point, it's like something is blocking it. Any ideas what could be going on?

Never mind I figured this out via a manual I found online... there's a lock swtich in the top left. Thanks!!

You mean the carriage lock? Something else to look out for - on certain machines (can't recall if this would happen to the SM7) - is that when you're at the end of a ribbon and the auto-reverse hasn't engaged, it might also prevent the typebars from reaching the platen. Enjoy your SM7, it's a fantastic machine.
