Is there anything close to this paper being made today? I'm assuming not...
There is, actually:

It doesn't seem that that paper would have the same special coating as this other paper. American Stationery does offer "Typewriter Stationary" at a rather inexpensive price compared to some others. It comes with envelopes- but the paper is not specially coated or anything.

Hmm, fair point. I'll have to get myself a pack and see how well it erases!

Greetings All
Yes, I realize this is an older thread. However, my correction method of choice is the Ko-Rec-Type (or similar) cover-up strips. When I'm typing to friends and close family, if I make a mistake, I type a question mark beside it an type the word again. Otherwise, when a mistake is made, backspace and insert strip behind card holder and re-type wrong letter. Backspace again, type correct letter and carry on. All the best,
Sky

I use "pencil" eraser sticks when typing on erasable typewriter paper.
I use correction tape on other types of paper (Tombow brand is the best, IMO).
Sometimes, I leave my "typos of authenticity."

Out of curiosity, what type of erasable paper do you use? All of the erasable paper I have tried is designed for regular pencil erasers. Also, I thought that pretty much all typewriter erasers had long since dried out at this point because they are so old and don't last indefinitely.

I just bought some vintage (new old stock) erasers and paper from eBay.
-J.R. Moon Pencil Co. Specified Typewriter Eraser 828B
-Eaton "Corrasable" paper
Both of these items work to my satisfaction. You can even sharpen the erasers. The erasers do feel a bit stiff, but they do the job.
*I also have some Mead (Management Series) Erasable Bond Typing Paper from 1988, but I have not used it yet.

I use Eaton's Corrasable too. Great stuff. On the sleeve that hold the paper, it reads: "Typewriter errors disappear like magic with the flick of a soft pencil eraser". I'll bet that you will get much better results with regular erasers (by pencil eraser, I'm assuming it means erasers for pencils). If not, they are still a lot cheaper
The typewriter erasers, if in good shape, should work on regular paper.

What paper is considered typing paper? What is the difference between that and the paper that is used for copiers/printers?

This is one of the few occasions where 'progress' is actually a good thing. Paper thickness is measured in Grammes per Square Metre. The higher the number, the thicker the paper. 30 years ago, 'typing paper' was 70gsm. The paper you buy now for printers and photocopiers is 80gsm. This is actually better quality than the old 'typing paper', and cheaper too - as well as more readily available. It is perfect for typing !
