Re: Recent Acquisitions Thread

Another great score, Mike !

I love machines with their manual Tab stops along the back of the typewriter.

So much less to go wrong with them versus the key-board set/clear levers and/or key-tops and their linkages through the machine to get to the Tab rail in the back.

Penncrest Concord 12 (SCM) with script typeface. Machine needs some adjustments but interesting 12 cpi script.

Re: Recent Acquisitions Thread

Lovely machine.  Great looking colour combinations.

BTW...even if a sales add does not show a print-out on paper...if you see a Series 6 S-C family machine with its ribbon selector switch having black in the upper position, you can be very certain it is a script machine and only takes a 1-color ribbon with the switch only having 2 positions (black and stencil).

That's a great tip for identifying script machines in this series.

Re: Recent Acquisitions Thread

Mike,

Unfortunately it does not help with Italics machines as that script normally does not have those trailing loops to some of the upper-case letters.  And usually do take the 2-colour ribbons.

Re: Recent Acquisitions Thread

My first standard size, an Olympia SG-3 I think. A friend spotted this in a thrift store today and sent this picture. I said yes please grab it. He says some of the keys are stuck but I'm hoping a good cleaning will take care of that. Now to find a place to put this beast.

Thanks. Pretty dirty. Must have been sitting in storage for quite a while. The aged sheet of paper in it looks to have been there a long time. Wish they have a cover for it but doubtful.

Re: Recent Acquisitions Thread

You have got an excellent machine there !  That is an Olympia SG3L - the 'L' stands for 'Luxe' and means that it has a paper injector and double space function.  It is also an earlier model (1960's) so the fit and finish would be better than the later ones.  You will love using it.  It is only slightly inferior to the holy grail SG1 (just put that last bit in to make Uwe smile)
