Re: Skippy the Sterling

Now I got it! Glad to be a help! Usually, when I see a paragraph of repeated characters, I'm looking for skipping patterns, not words. I'm really glad you got it fixed!

Re: Skippy the Sterling

So am I!  I have to buy a new spare tube for my road bike now, but the score is evened up. I've broken one typewriter and fixed one now.

Re: Skippy the Sterling

Is the advice the same if it is ONLY skipping when using the space bar and only intermittently? (Never skips when just using letters and no space bar)

Re: Skippy the Sterling

John,

I would trace all the linkage from the space bar back to the escapement and take some lacquer thinner (LT) to all the pivot points, etc.  And being careful not to get the LT near any painted surfaces or plastic/rubber parts.

Sounds like you might have some gummy parts in that mechanical train.
