I've been looking at goodwill's auction website, shopgoodwill, and I was wondering how well they packed their typewriters. Anyone have good/bad experiences with them?

I suspect it completely depends on the store that would be shipping it. I certainly wouldn't hold my breath - not at those prices - that you're going to get a carefully packaged machine; have you seen how the stuff in the stores is handled?

Good point. I don't think I will be buying from them anytime soon, and I've been trying to cut down on my online purchases anyway

Well, if it's really cheap you don't have a lot to lose. Buying online is my least favorite option, and trust me, every single time I open a parcel with a typewriter in it I'm holding my breath and expecting the worst.

I have had some luck at shopgoodwill. Most of it good, some of it really bad.

I've gotten about 15 machines from them, some real gems, and have never had an issue with shipping. You really can't beat the prices! Some of my faves from SGW are Olivetti Lettera 22 for $20, a Studio 44 for $15, a Hermes 2000 for $30, a Studio 45 for $25, an SM3 for $40, SM9 for $30, a Remington Fleetwing for $15, a couple Sterlings for $10 each, a Skyriter for $6...all working, some needed cleaning.

Wow... I've got my eyes on a few machines, nice to know they will likely be shipped well.
