You can't upload directly to this site. You have to put your images somewhere else, like a photo hosting site. I used to use Photobuckt, but I've switched to imgur.
So, for example, I open my account on imgur and upload my photos. Once they are uploaded, imgur gives me a couple of options for links to each photo. I click on the one that says "BB Code", copy that link and paste it into the message here on the board.
The link for that image looks like this (without the spaces): [im g] [/im g]

Are you using a tablet or smartphone to view the site? If so, you might need to select the "request desktop site" option to see the icon, which should appear with a number of other icons above the text box (as is shown in the FAQ topic).

I use Flickr to post photos on the forum and this is what works for me.
In Flickr I select the photo I want to use, either from the Album or the photostream, by clicking on it. The sekected photo opens in a dark band on a new screen. Towards the bottom right of the dark band there should be an arrow (I've highlighted it with a red circle)

I click on the arrow which produces a pop up. I make sure that the BBcode tab (red circle) is selected on the pop up. The drop down menu at the bottom can be opened by clicking on the arrow which allows the desired size to be selected (I think the forum rules say no more than 800pixel, I tend to use 640 for the longest dimension)

I then copy the code shown in the top box (only part of it is shown in the box) and paste it into my post

Provided I have not used the 'Quick post' option and instead have used the 'Post reply' option for my post, I can then click 'preview' to check that the picture displays properly before clicking 'submit'.

I should add that the last image in my previous post shows the code posted into a PM and not a forum post, however, PMs don't seem to have the ability to show images and instead will just display the raw BBcode.
