Shamwari,
Vintage staplers are an easier rabbit-hole to fall into. I have 18 Ace staplers (Cadet and Ace Liner) models on one small shelf in my hobby room. They all work and are loaded with staples.
2-3 of mine have mysteriously moved to my wife's office...for some reason.

That's impressive! A good selection of colours too.
The only stapler I've got is an orange Rexel Matador 2, bought late seventies/early eighties when new. So more modern than my Olivetti typewriters. I now see them advertised as vintage! It's made in England which certainly dates it, I don't think much is made in the UK these days!

On the case, one side of the locking latches was probably broken and completely removed by a previous owner, along the way.
I covered the area with a bit of pee; & stick felt and then installed a small (4-40) stainless steel screw, washers, and a nut to secure the left side of the case.
I was planning to try to hunt down another case...but I think I am "good" with this adhoc repair.
