Re: Recent Acquisitions Thread

This just arrived yesterday. I've been using a thrift store find Royal Citadel that I brought most of the way back from one foot in the grave, but which still has, ah, issues. Also it has elite type. I wanted something that worked well, would be reliable, and had pica type. I ordered and sent back four typewriters that I found on eBay (I live out in the sticks, the nearest city with a typewriter shop being 300 miles away, so I'm stuck with having to buy online): two Silent-Supers, a Lettera 33, and a Letters 32. Finally I found this for $129 and free shipping, already serviced by the seller, on Etsy. The action is a little heavy, but I'm getting used to it. I set the touch control to four, and once I get used to it I'll reset it to 1, and theoretically it will feel light as a feather. Anyway, I really like it a lot. This is the machine Raymond Chandler went to in the '50s after his Remington Noiseless. He loved it, and called it his Italian racing car typewriter (back then Ferrari and Maserati dominated formula 1 racing).

Hmmmmm. I wonder what this button does...

Re: Recent Acquisitions Thread

I didn't say, but of course it's an Olivetti Studio 44. Dated 1964.
