I picked up my 1968 Olympia SM9 from the original owner who got her machine in high school and treated it so well until she went into assisted living.
Every year for her Birthday, I write her a letter on her old machine. And even sent photos when I re-furbished the typewriter case. She is on email now and always sends a reply-note my way.

As someone who shepherded by mom for 6 years at an assisted living place I'm sure that makes here day to get that typed letter. A toast to Pete.

Oops. My bad. That was an Eel River "amber" ale, an over-hopped fake slightly dark ale. Seems like all the watering holes in Northern California are required by an unwritten law to serve only over-hopped beers and ales. The only exception I've been able to find has been Mexican restaurant bars, which carry Negra Modelo. Don't know of any place that has Japanese beer on tap, except Japan.
