Last year I had the chance to acquire a Triumph electric 151f. It was offered via a classified ad. To exclude the risk of damage during shipping I picked it up myself (300 kilometers away from me).
The over all condition was not perfect but rather good. A few first impressions:
Snow inside the typewriter?
No - there were chunks of correction sheets from numerous applications.
Cleaned - looks better now:
First tests after cleaning. Some work is still to do.

Was the escapement air buffer in good condition ? The plastic can crack and expand, causing the piston to seize in the cylinder, giving the escapement a hard time.

Good point!
The piston was indeed not moving at all (yes, hard time) and the plastic was (still is) cracked. I was afraid if the plastic would fall apart during removal of the piston. That's why I had marked the segments with numbers before removal. But the plastic remains still in position although it seems that it will fall apart in the next second. I sanded the plastic's circumference a little and lubricated it and the cylinder wall with a thin film of silicone grease. Now the air brake is functioning well again and gives the escapement smooth movements.
