My 1949 S-C Sterling did not have sticky key problems but a mouldy-ribbon smell it took me more than 3 weeks to finally exorcise it from the machine.

Numerous rounds of cleaning and air-blows, lots of Lysol disinfectant sprayings, and many days in the outdoor summer heat on our covered porch.
