Here is a photo-scan from the User Manual showing how this model has rigid metal bars with interlacing gears for each of the type-bars/key-lever mechanism.

On most of my other makes/models,  you see a wire-link in the middle and not the "geared" set-up.

I think this set-up lends to a bit different-feeling of the typing-action that takes a bit of getting use to.


Think I will go back into the machine (with covers off) to see if all these gears need a bit more cleaning,
