SM3 carriage catch

I finally picked up an SM3, the last machine on my "want to try" list. There is a small tab on the underside of the carriage that hits the left side of the body when the carriage reaches the center point when typing. Not sure if something is bent or if its just a slight adjustment. Pressing the shift key even slightly lifts it over that catch point. I haven't looked every closely at it yet and can post a picture later if necessary.

Here ya can see the little tab that hits the body. It appears that this left side of the carriage is slightly lower than the right side.

Re: SM3 carriage catch

The carriage is catching on the casing because the rubber washers that separate the case from the chassis have failed.  This is a very easy fix, using tap (faucet) washers.

Oh, ok thanks. I had read about that issue but it seemed like they were talking about something else. Glad to know its an easy fix

Ah yes, I just tipped it up and its obvious the left rear washer is toast. Easy peasy.
