I have been lucky enough to acquire two Alpina SK24s (one from the 1950s and one from the 1960s) and have by now been using both for half a year or so.

My question is about the weight of the action of these machines.  While not 'stiff' exactly, it is certainly heavier than, say, roughly equivalent Olympia machines.  Needless to say, both Alpinas are thoroughly clean, and any slight heaviness in the action is not, I believe, due to gunk in the linkages.

The newer SK24 has a 'touch control' - set on minimum - but the older seems not to have this feature  -  at least, I can't find it if it does!  So my question boils down to:

1.   Do Alpina SK24s from the 1950s have a touch control? - and if so, where on earth is it!
2.   Is there any more general method of lightening the action of a typewriter other than via a supplied touch control.
