uh oh first proper repair already - Adler Primus
I think I might have banged the carriage/cylinder know putting the case on yesterday.
Now when you turn the cylinder to put the paper in it just moves really smoothing and freely and doesn't have the reassuring click that lets you line up you sentences.
Everything else seems fine. solutions?

You do not say which make or model you have, but it sounds as if you have accidently operated the ratchet release. There will either be a small knob or lever on the left of the carriage for this, or it may be incorporated into the linespace selector 0 (ratchet release), 1, 1.5, 2 etc.
