Imperial model T big problem

Hi,

I'm borrowing a model t to compete a graphic design project and I can't seem to get it to work. I've got a few other typewriters but this has stumped me.

Looking closely with a torch I can see the main cog in the middle is about 2mm from the long toothed bit of metal that I assume once married up. I can't see anyway to drop it down further but it also doesn't seem to have loads of wear either.

Basically when you go to start a new line it doesn't hold on the right hand side and just flys back to end of line with a PING.

Any ideas?

Re: Imperial model T big problem

Sounds like the  tab key is stuck down; trace the linkages from the tab key, and you may find the prob.  A guess only, of course.

Sincerely,
beak.

Thanks so much! That's exactly what it was. The arm had come out of it's track so was stuck firm and constantly one. Works like new!
