Buying a Olivetti Lettera 82, have this problem with the type hammers.

I was going to buy this Olivetti Lettera 82, when i noticed that some of the type hammers are not aligned with the others, and a bit loose. Is this a problem? What can happen and, can i fix this?

And, if I push them back to place, they go back to the wrong position.

Re: Buying a Olivetti Lettera 82, have this problem with the type hammers.

I've encountered this issue with a number of other machines and found all where due to bent linkages that weren't really a big deal to fix. However, unless you're really stuck on this model for some nostalgic reason, I'd spend my money on another machine that is in better shape - and was originally better built! I believe the Lettera 82 was made in Brazil and it certainly has a terrible reputation; truly a waste of money if you want to use for some real typing.
