EBay Vandal

http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/Antique-Royal-Typewriter-Keys-Beehive-Shape-/330905982046?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item4d0b88945e

This vandal is selling the keys - going to cut them off if anyone bids?  Or is this a wind-up, I wonder?

...and just for the laugh, take a look at this postage.

Re: EBay Vandal

I've a nasty feeling it's not a wind up. I hope some collector steps in before the hacksaw does its work.

That postage is crazy. Surely some mistake...

Re: EBay Vandal

Ugh... and there's so many more chopped key lots up for sale on eBay (I won't bother to post the links).

Why can they just use these?

Re: EBay Vandal

The postage mentioned on the ebay listing above is some sort of ebay conversion glitch, I think. This typewriter is being shipped all the way from Colorado, USA. The shipping shows to be $56.00 inside the continental US.

Re: the key tops: I hope this typewriter-key jewelry fad ends soon. Yes, there are reproductions out there, but aren't used often because they aren't authentic. Key chopping will continue as long as there is profit in it. Hopefully another fad will come along and the demand will dry up because no one will want the jewelry anymore.

Re: EBay Vandal

There have been other such; fountain pens stripped of the gold in their nibs -  worth a few dollars, when the whole pen itself is worth many times more.

Sincerely,
beak.
