Typewriter Books

I love typewriters AND I love books.
I figured I'd start out by posting the two typewriter books I own and go from there.
PLEASE post books you own OR books on your wish list!

Century of the Typewriter by Wilfred A. Beeching c.1974

Miss Tibbett's Typewriter by Eve Mirriam, Illustrations by Rick Schreiter c.1966

Re: Typewriter Books

One I've been looking out for is 'Typewriters: an illustrated history'.

Re: Typewriter Books

Here's another gem I acquired this week:
20th Century Typewriting by Lessenberry, Crawford, & Erickson, c. 1967
If you see anything you like (SEE Table of Contents), let me know and I'll be happy to scan it.

Re: Typewriter Books

In all my second-hand book browsing, I don't think I've ever seen a book about typewriters / -ing.  I wonder if dealers instinctively throw them away as being of no interest to anyone any more?

I'd like to read the reminisences of someone who worked in a typing pool all his/her (far more likely her) life - perhaps there is no such thing.

Sincerely,
beak.

Re: Typewriter Books

I find many of them to be ex-library books. They are usually stamped with "withdrawn" or "discarded."

Re: Typewriter Books

I have a Smith Corona typing course with the 45 records still in the back of the box. It's in damn near perfect condition. I will try to get some pictures of it. Been thinking about selling it but I don't know if I want to yet. I got rid of ALL my typers except the Royal Apollo 10 and a smith Corona Clipper. I think I am getting rid of the Clipper though and just going to stick with the Apollo until I find another glass keyed one. I'm sort of looking for the right typer, one that sets me on fire. I had a Type O but someone offered me too much for it so I just had to sell it. Now I am regretting it.

Before you judge someone, walk a mile in their shoes. This way if you're right you will have a headstart and they will be barefoot.
