I guess because it's the older style?
And the glass panels should just pop out, or at least they did for my Royal 10 which is the second model with only one glass pane per side. I personally like the single window more because it's easier to clean and you can see more inside.

I like the double because its the older style, and its a little less common to find. But I really dont care which one it is.

Excellent choice, I would have bought the Royal. I read an article that they are a very sturdy machine. You are so lucky to have found this one at $60 and works.
You can never have too many typewriters.

Royal even threw the 10 out of planes (with parachutes of course) and only 6 out of I think thousands had slight damage. Eat your heart out Underwood
