Hello everyone I have a little problem. Several months ago I bought an old Typewriter from a friend of mines yard sell. I'm a huge writer and since it was only five bucks I jumped on it. Today, though, I decided to see what the machine was actually worth. I took me a good 15 minutes to find the serial numer and I have spent the past two hours trying to find that numder on the web. I have searched serch sites, databases, absolutly everything and everywhere I could possibly find.
The machine is an old Royal Quiet Deluxe. The serial number is: A-896765
I have rechecked this number several times and I am 100 percent sure that it is accurate.
If I could have some help here I would greatly appreciate it. Thanks for your time.

If you could post a picture of the typewriter, plus a close-up of the serial number itself, that might help. I should warn you, though, that typewriter "worth" is very subjective. You especially cannot depend upon ebay or etsy or antique malls to determine worth -- I've seen ridiculous prices with all three, and have also gotten some very good deals with all three. I have two Royal Quiet Deluxes, for one of which I paid a dollar, and for the other I paid I think around 30 dollars. I've seen much higher asking prices online and in person.

Your Quiet De Luxe was manufactured in 1939. As for what it's worth, it would depend on its condition and the typeface it was fitted with. The Quiet De Luxe is a very common model, so if it's in average condition with a regular typeface I'd estimate its value to be in the $40-80 range.

Typewriter database gives a range of serial numbers.

The condition of the Typewriter is in poor shape. I really have no intention of selling it as I think it looks rather nice where I have it. I was just curious as to what it's worth. All in all, to me it doesn't really matter. Like I said. I'm keeping.
Thanks everyone for your help.

Hi Rehelm,
If you wanted to show a picture of thew typing it produces, that would be interesting?
We all have our old-favourite typewriters - mine is an old Smith-Corona that has rust marks all over it and still smells of the mould it had when I got it... I won't be parted from it!
