Don't know whether to laugh or cry.  It does help to set the parking brake on your postal jeep.

Anyway, e-bay seller has done her part so can only trust USPS won't toss it off a sort line that's probably 3 stories high.  : 0 !

best

Brian

On the plus side, our mail carrier is very nice & even knows our name.  I worry about the big distribution hubs.  Case in point.  Jazz LP bought on e-bay from store in Dallas Texas-- about 6-8 hours north of San Antonio.  Check tracking # and find the record is in Atlanta Georgia-- halfway across the continent.

Best wishes on it.  Will keep my fingers crossed for you.

Mine seems to be stuck in limbo.

DHL: "The shipment will be transported to the destination country and, from there, handed over to the delivery organization."

USPS: "We have received notice that the originating post is preparing to dispatch this mail piece."

That was two days ago.

I have this mental picture of an old tramp steamer plodding across the Atlantic at a top speed 5 knots.

Re: Another machine destroyed in the post

My Smith Premier 4 for parts came today. Well then....

The mainspring was torn off the cast iron frame.
One platen knob was smashed.
The cast iron frame is missing a chunk that was there in the photos.

But the parts I needed were not damaged! So thats okay! lol

Im replacing the carriage right now, sanding down some of the rust. Then Im going to try and somehow get those typefaces off. Cant be too hard, since most of them in the parts machine are out anyways.

Wish me luck!

Re: Another machine destroyed in the post

You don't need to do that, just fiddle with it until you can get the two back ball bearing in and the one front on in. I'd do the back bearing first because it's easier to work with one than two. Trust me, I got the bearing out too.

And you do know that the platen, knobs, paper table, and feed rollers come off as one unit, right? https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Y-E4Bjesix0

^ Oh you did? I was mad earlier when I wrote that. And yes, the platen I got off, just two latches hold it in.
