Mamou isn't really French btw. Think it's regional & can be an endearing name for mom, wife, or the Matriach.

Well.... Yes and no actually.

Acadian (Cajun) is a pidgin language so it's a mix. (We had to go to court to get 'recognized' btw. Ha!)

Anyway...

"Mother" can be a form of address or (as you've said) a noun.

Address: "Maman ! Je suis home !" ---> "Mom! I'm home!"

Noun: "Avez-vous vu ma mère ?" ----> "Have you seen my mother?"

More likely though we'd use Mamou.

"Je veux ma mamou ! Wah !" ---> "I want my mommy! Wah!"

To add to the confusion mamou can also be a place. Grand Mamou is a song where a man wants his lady love to come back to him in the 'big city.'  Kind of a joke since Mamou Louisiana might have 3,000 people in it.

The sprawling metropolis of Mamou! "What you say boy! We off the rig, got some money an we goin' to Mamou! Is reeel big... Not like Beaumont. Blink and you miss it!  Ha!"

Santé ! (Cheers!)

Brian

I doubt Brian does either, I certainly don't, but that's what ASCII codes are used for: Àà, Ââ, Èè, Çç, etc.

The pronoun has always been capitalized in the English language for more than 700 years.

Don't know about Uwe (maybe has them memorized)  but in case anyone is wondering...

Need a keyboard with numeric keypad and a chart (unless you have photographic memory.)

Alt-Key + Four Digit Chart:

The character map in your computer (PC) will also give you this information.

Smith Premier typewriters are cool!

Re: Typewriter Trivia, History, Fun Stuff

Wasn't 'seafoam' the manufacturer's name for the colour though? It specifically applies to Hermes.

Thoese colours are a hipster disaster. I found out only recently that at one stage Urban Outfitters were selling typewriters, fetishising them as 'vintage' etc etc; this was really the writing on the wall, I think. I saw a Baby recently being advertised on eBay for abotu £60, 'as sold by Urban Outfitters'. It was relisted twice and last I noticed hadn't sold. And Etsy's even worse.

Hmmmm.  So many subjects in one page.  Okay, first one's first:  1.  Kind of reminds me of when  I was back in Junior High repairing typewriters when I was 13 years old;  2.  I once painted a 1959 Royal RE fire engine red before I donated it to the Family Abuse Thrift Store;  3.  Several of my beauties have names:  Mamma Kat is a 1946 Underwood manual;  Mack the Knife is a 1958 Remington portable;  Daddy Sam is a 1949 Royal portable.
