It was the alignment! I figured out how to adjust it this afternoon and fiddled with it for about an hour. Had to raise the caps as far up as I could without losing part of them and lowering the lowercase as far as the screw would let me to get them lined up, but it works! Thanks a million to everybody for chiming in with assistance!
