Royal 10 skipping characters

Alright, this one has got me a bit worried.

So I came back from a two week trip to California and basically the first thing I did was that I used my Royal 10 because I love it so much. However, I noticed that the carriage skipped quite a bit. Not too badly, but enough that I as concerned especially since it is a standard. It has skipped a bit before, but only about twice per page typed. The carriage even skipped two spaces at one point and made a sound that I can only compare to the zipping of the Magic Margin system on later Royals. Is this due to normal dissuse? Or is it something wrong with the escapement that needs to be adjusted?

It could be something loose in the escapement, I think? Or maybe worn teeth? In my inexpert opinion, that's what I'd check.  After first determining that it's not due to typing style.

Hmm... I ruled out typing style before, but I might look back into it because I tend to type very erratically. I just hope it's not the escapement...
