Those rollers look lovely! I'm actually really considering sending out a few platens for recovery, but I have so many that need it and not enough money! 
And that Empress looks almost as good as that new platen does. I hear they type just as nicely as they look.
A high schooler with a lot of typewriters. That's pretty much about it.

The Empress was an unexpected bonus. I had mentioned to Richard that I was in the market for one, and he told me his colleague had one he was willing to part with. The colleague told me I could have it for nothing, since that is what he paid for it. How nice is that? It is in really good shape too, gigantic thing!
I'm totally wanting to have a bunch of platens recovered now. It would definitely get pricey though. This one was $60, but came to more like $80 with shipping both ways. I'd love to get my Hermes platen done, and my QDL, and and...
Oh, I did read on their website that JJ does offer discounts if you need several platens of the same size covered. I wonder if we could organize a co-op? Something to think about...

Only $80? I thought it was more like $100! Looks like I'll be getting my Royal Portable and Arrow sent off together for a reduced price pretty soon.

I think it depends on the diameter and length of the platen. I'm not sure, take a look at their website.
