Repair in Maryland

I have two Olivetti 32's, one is working perfectly, the other at 90%.  I would love to find a reasonable shop that's local should the need arise. Any info would be greatly appreciated.

Re: Repair in Maryland

Well the title did say "Repair in Maryland".  I'm not that picky.  Anywhere in MD would be fine.

Re: Repair in Maryland

He stated "Maryland" in the thread title, so maybe anywhere in the state?

The pronoun has always been capitalized in the English language for more than 700 years.

Re: Repair in Maryland

Well now that we got that cleared up.

Does anyone know of a repair and service place anywhere in Baltimore? I live in Maryland so anywhere is really fine.  My typewriter is in over all good working condirion but I wouldn't mind having it checked out, cleaned and serviced.

Re: Repair in Maryland

Here is a list directly from the typewriter repair shop list from xavier.
"

  • Ken & Ray, Inc., 3408 Chestnut Avenue, Baltimore, MD 21211. 410 727 2134 office, 410 752 2717 fax. E-mail: kenandray1@gmail.com or kenandray@aol.com. Contact: Ken Wittelsberger, Jr. and Ken Wittelsberger, Sr. "We continue to fix antique typewriters and have been since 1931." Web site here.
  • Mike Patrick, Rockville Office Machines Inc., 12264 Wilkins Ave., Rockville, MD 20852. A happy customer says, "The owner is quite generous with his information."
  • Kensington Office Machines, 1717 Elton Rd., Suite 201, Silver Spring, MD 20903-1703. 301-946-0800. Fax: 301-946-0800. A customer writes: "They sell and fix all sorts of office machines including manual and electric typewriters. What is really special is that they have a repairman who knows how to fix electromechanical calculators and he fixed my Marchant calculator! Amazing. Kensington is adjacent to Silver Spring, Maryland, immediately north of Washington, DC. The shop is only a half mile up Connecticut Avenue from the Connecticut Avenue Beltway exit." The staff writes: "We do repair manual typewriters, the classic ones .... Our goal is to service customers with a passion for their old manual typewriter. We've been in business since 1973. Our technicians are well experienced with over 30 years in the repair business." Website : www.kensingtonofficemachines.com. E-mail: Repaircenter@kensingtonofficemachines.comRead a story about owner Jimmy Fasusi here."

I would personally go to the first or last shop, since they have a website. I will check them out right now. The first website seems to be better since they specilize in typewriters.

Re: Repair in Maryland

Sent them a message. Anyone give me a ballpark for a professional cleaning and tune up?

Re: Repair in Maryland

An average tune up and cleaning is usually $125. Maybe a little higher or less. But it depends how dirty your machine is, or what needs to be done.
