KMG's are probably one of the more common typewriters, especially on the East Coast. So there should be no conflict in painting one. I was actually wanted to paint my KMG white with very shiny chrome bits. But now I'm thinking about a darker color like navy blue, or forest green, almost like the color Olympia painted the SG-1. The only problem with green, is that I don't want it to look like my future SG-1.

Im going to PROBABLY sell 1 once I paint them. Ill sell one and keep one.
@Ztyper dont forget to imagine how the decals would look! I dont think a dark blue would look very good, or purple. Anything but that. White I think would look awsome from the back with the gold decals. If you want me to photo shop some photos I can make a navy blue or a green for you!

Anyone have tips on taking KMGs apart, ALL the paneling? Id like to paint everything seperate, not while evrtyhing is still together.

Ok, here's the tricky part:
I learned this the hard way, but there is no paneling the comes all off like the body of a Royal Empress or something. Some of the mechanics ARE ATTACHED to the body. The screws you see on the sides, those are going to stay there. Unless you plan on taking the whole thing apart piece by piece, you're going to have to cover up somehow. I made this mistake and ended up almost ruining the mainspring because it wasn't attached to anything. It's why I haven't tackled it yet, because I'm a bit too scared to do so. But I plan to do some tests before winter though.
And I'm not sure what decals are on the KMG besides the one on the back. But if there are replacements, then I'll surely get me some.

Yes, just the ones on the back, and the touch control one on the side. I dont mind leaving the sides, but what about front panels and the ribbon cover?

Front panel and ribbon cover can be removed.

If you're going to do it before winter, do it now. The weather is still mild and it won't start getting really cold for another week or two.
