Pete E:  You do know that your first image in your original post is Marilyn Monroe posing.  Great post!

Hi Martin...yes Norma Jean.

Hi Sky,

Thanks for the correction.  Is the Special the normal width and the Universal in wider carriage offerings ?  I do not follow Adlers much.

Browsing Amazon and I found this : https://www.amazon.com/Sexy-Legs-Typewriters-Paul-Robert/dp/9074999069

Out of print by the look of it, but plenty of typewriters to identify I should think

The Adler Special was a model in its own right - an 'industrial portable'.  Designed to be carried from room to room in an office, it had a carriage lock but no carry case and was about the same footprint as a standard -  but lower and 'squatter'.  It wasn't a roaring success, although Adler persisted with it for years - probably in an attempt to recover the money spent on development and tooling !

Thanks Tom...I appreciate your inputs.

My AMC (Alpina) reminds me of what you mention about the Adler Special.  It feels like a standard on my desk (just a bit smaller and not as tall).  But it did come with a case.

Great film, and it pops up a few times in this thread (topic): https://typewriter.boardhost.com/viewtopic.php?id=321
