Hi all,
I have acquired a 1963 H3K with a busted mainspring. Have never opened a Hermes spring to repair it--only Olivetti. Would like to avoid doing so if possible. Anyone know if another machine's mainspring might fit? I have a little boneyard, but no Hermes parts. Looks like 4 cm diameter. If not, any guidance on opening it up? Thanks as always for your expertise. LD

LD,

You might drop this eBay seller a message to see what he might have.  Seems like he has parted out a H3K.  He is even in NC State.

I parted-out a 3rd. Gen H3K made in France to get my primary machine back to 100%.

The spare main-spring I have in my stash is about 1/4" smaller in diameter and the center whole that the through-bolt runs is smaller too...compared to my 1st. Gen H3K.

The mounting hardware for these main-springs is not the same from 3rd. Gen to 1st. Gen, either.
